This page will concentrate on development issues as support is an accepted part of normal operations. Support, depending on the time of year, is a large part of what we do.
Role-based Authentication System
Every user is assigned access rights by virtue of their role in relation to the University (student, staff, visitor). |
Student and StaffMyCQU Services MyCQU was originally designed to service staff and students within the Infocom Faculty. Webfuse MyCQU now provides a subset of functionality to all CQU staff and to those students whose courses are delivered via Webfuse. |
Timetable Generator
The Timetable Generator enables staff and students to create their own individual timetable for a given term, to check when and where a course is delivered at a particular campus, OR to check possible timetable clashes prior to a term.
|
| Academic Offering
Each term, a default course website is created for each course providing information about the course including details of the staff involved, links to the course profile and other relevant information. The Course Developer/Coordinator updates and customises the site, as required throughout the term. Some of the systems used by the term course web sites are course updates, forums, quizzes, online assignment submission and management etc. |
ASA - Academic Staff Allocations Available for staff only, the ASA provides academic and general staff knowledge of who is teaching what, where and the role of each staff member associated with each course. This system provides the information to many different sources across CQU, e.g. to deliver the Staff Details page at the course websites, security access for authentication of multiple services, etc. |
AES - Assignment Extension System
The AES is designed to allow CQU students and staff to request assignment extensions online, and to allow authorised CQU staff to process the requests. It is designed to simplify and expedite the process of extension requests and is based on the CQU policy. Learn more by visiting http://webfuse.cqu.edu.au/Help/AES/. |
TANS - Topic Allocation-Nomination System
This system has a dual purpose: Allocation covers the case where a Coordinator provides a list of choices and the student is able to self-select online and Nomination enables students to submit their topic nomination (title, keywords, description) and the Coordinator (or nominee) either accepts/rejects the submission. If a student's nomination is rejected, the system allows for re-nomination. |
BAM - Blogs Aggregation Management
Students use their own blog as a reflective journal. BAM aids teaching staff by providing a simple, effective management interface that integrates with existing CQU systems (StaffMyCQU and OASIS). The interface allows staff to track, view and assess student use of the blogs. |
AMD - Academic Misconduct Database The AMD was developed in mid-2005 to address the need for a central academic misconduct database, as outlined in the Plagiarism Policy ( http://policy.cqu.edu.au/ ). The system is used across the university, at all campuses. |
ESOS
Resulting from the Education Services for Overseas Students Act, 2000, the ESOS Form is available to all CQU teaching staff. It reports which students have not submitted assessment within a few days of the due date. |
IROG - Informal Review Of Grade
An email/web based process, IROG, has been used previously since Autumn Term, 2003 in an effort to speed up turn-around time of this previously paper-based system. |
Results Uploader
The Results Uploader System has been provided in an effort to better manage the provision of students' results into the ERP, Peoplesoft. It allows for a finer grain of checking and control. From Term 3, 2004, the ability of students to view their assessment results was introduced. |
Webfuse Website
The Webfuse Website consists of the world view and an Intranet for Staff. It relies on the Webfuse publishing system, CQU's authentication systems, databases and the role-based authentication system. |
