A number of people have been involved in the development and teaching of 85349. This page shows who you should blame for what.

Teaching Staff

The 85349 teaching staff are responsible for helping students while they are enrolled in the subject.
Tim Roberts

Tim worked as a freelance software consultant specialising in large IBM mainframe operating systems for a number of years; during this time he worked for such companies as Rank Xerox, Logica, National Advanced Systems, ZCCM, and the Greater London Council. He has been involved in academia since 1985, and is currently Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Informatics and Communication on the Bundaberg campus.

Development Staff

A number of people contributed to the development of the 85349 teaching material including the design and production of the 85349 Web site, CD-ROM, assessment and study guide. They are currently not involved in teaching 85349. Please don't ask them questions about 85349.

David Jones

David taught 85349 in 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997 and 1999, and is the person most largely responsible for the excellence of the 85349 Operating Systems web site. His role in the development was input on the design, writing the study guide, voice overs for a number of the online lectures and 1999 lectures (the photo to the right shows how the audio was produced in 1998).

Stephen Smith

Stephen has been at CQU since the early 90s and co-taught and taught 85349 in 1996, 1997 and 1998. You will hear his voice on a number of the online lectures. These were recorded during lectures in 1998.

Paula Turnbull

In 1998 Paula was a third year Bachelor of Information Technology student. She has a background in graphic design and was instumental in the development of the design of the 85349 site and the animations. The 85349 Operating Systems development is the core study of a Computing Project unit that Paula has taken for the year.

She is now working as a Web developer in Brisbane.

Phillipa Sturgess

Phillipa has undertaken this project as part of her Bachelor of MultiMedia Studies. Prior to beginning this course she had acquired a B.A. in Psychology and many years of varied life experience. She also has connections with IC-Assist and the Women in Computing committee.

She is now working as an instructional designer with CQU's Distance and Flexible Learning Center.

Acknowledgements

Producing a product like the 85349 Web site and CD-ROM is a complex task requiring a great deal of time, effort and skill. The quality of the 85349 web site would not have been possible with the tremendous effort which both Paula and Phillipa put in developing the 1998 web site.

Such a development is also an evolutionary process. The first web site for 85349 was developed in 1995 and was a very poor sight indeed. Since then a number of students, staff and colleagues have been responsible for the growing quality of the 85349 Web sites. The current site builds on the great foundation put in place by Paula and Phillipa.

Mary Cranston deserves special mention for organising the duplication of the 85349 CDs. This was just the most recent in a long line of invaluable contributions Mary has made to the on-going development of teaching and learning within the Faculty of Informatics and Communication.

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the current work in any way. It is much appreciated.
