Multiple Choice Quiz (MCQ) Instructions
Each test consists of a multiple-choice quiz of 8 questions, and may be based on material covered in all previous weeks. In Term 1 2008 there are 5 online quizzes, each worth 8%, as follows:
MCQ1: 12 noon Thursday 27th March to 12 noon Friday 28th March (in Week 4)
MCQ2: 12 noon Thursday 10th April to 12 noon Friday 11th April (in Week 6)
MCQ3: 12 noon Thursday 1st May to 12 noon Friday 2nd May (in Week 8)
MCQ4: 12 noon Thursday 15th May to 12 noon Friday 16th May (in Week 10)
MCQ5: 12 noon Thursday 29th May to 12 noon Friday 30th May (in Week 12)
These assignments are available only during the times specified above. An electronic submission must be made during this time, or a score of zero will be awarded. Students in other states and countries should note that times refer to those pertaining in central Queensland, and should make the necessary allowances to ensure submission by the deadline.
If multiple submissions are made, only the final submission will count. You are strongly advised NOT to leave your submission until the last moment. Marks will not be immediately available.
You will score 1 mark for each correct answer, and lose one third of a mark for each incorrect answer. A non-response will score zero for that question. For example, if you have 5 correct answers, leave one blank, and 2 incorrect answers, you will score 5 - 2/3 = 4.33 out of 8. The rationale for the marking scheme for multiple choice tests can be found here.
Please note that extensions are not possible for multiple choice quizzes. Any students unable to take the test during the specified test period must contact me (t.roberts@cqu.edu.au) prior to the commencement of the test.
Students MUST work on the test on an individual basis. No discussion or correspondence of any kind relating to the test between students will be allowed during the period that the test is open. Where any communication or collaboration is found to have occurred, all students involved are liable for a score of zero.
If any problems occur during the taking of the test, you may email me (t.roberts@cqu.edu.au) but please note that during the test I will not respond to any emails referring to the content of particular questions. Any problems must be reported prior to the test deadline. During the test period, please DO NOT send any email to the list regarding the test until after I have given the go-ahead, probably sometime the following Monday.
