The assignment contributes 20% of your final mark for COIS20025. This assignment will be marked out of 45.
The assignment contains two major components, each of which includes sub-components.
- Business requirements scoping - 25 marks
- Fact finding - 10 marks
- Identify deficiencies - 5 marks
- Identify requirements - 10 marks
- Process models and specifications - 18 marks
- Process modelling - 8 marks
- Data Dictionary entries - 10 marks
This makes a total of 43 marks. The remaining two marks will be for presentation. The criteria for these two marks include:
- You must use the provided templates. You will receive 0 out of 2 if you do not use the templates.
- You must update each of the fields in the templates (author, project title, table of contents etc) to match your report. You will receive 0 out of 2 if you do not do this completely.
- You will lose part (or all) of these 2 marks if your report contains significant grammatical and/or spelling errors.
There are five (5) questions you must answer about the existing system.
Your answer to each question is worth 2 marks. You will be marked according to the following scale:
- 2 marks
A great answer, complete, succinct, no errors, goes beyond what we might normally expect.
- 1.5 marks
A good answer, complete, not errors but not quite as brilliant as the assignments getting 2 marks.
- 1 mark
An acceptable answer, complete but has the odd error or other problem.
- 0.5 marks
An unacceptable answer.
- 0 marks
Does not answer the question, is not the student's own work or has significant errors and misunderstandings.

Identify deficiencies - 5 marks
|
There are five (5) categories of system requirements. You are meant to identify 1 problem for each category. Each category is worth 1 mark. Marks will be awarded using the following criteria:
- 1 mark
A great answer. Insightful.
- 0.75 mark
A good answer. Not quite good enough to get 1 mark but entirely correct.
- 0.5 mark
An acceptable answer. Has a few minor problems, but essentially correct.
- 0.25 mark
A small part of the answer is correct but there are a number of problems, some fairly major problems.
- 0 marks
Any one of entirely wrong, not answered, copied from elsewhere etc.

Identify requirements - 10 marks
|
There are Five (5) categories of system requirements. You are meant to identify all the requirements for the new Child Health Information System (CHIS) for each category. Each category is worth 2 marks. Marks will be awarded using the same criteria as in the Fact Finding section.

Process modelling - 8 marks
|
A Context Data Flow Diagram and a Diagram 0 DFD for the new CHIS are required. Marks will be awarded using the following categories:
- Context diagram - 3 marks
- Process naming and numbering - 0.5 marks
- Correct data flows - 1 mark
- Correct external entities - 1 mark
- No data stores - 0.5 marks
- Zero DFD - 5 marks
- Correct processes - logic, name, numbering - 2 marks
- Correct data stores - 1 mark
- Levelled - 1 mark
- Balanced - 1 marks

Data Dictionary entries - 10 marks
|
For this section you are required to complete two Data Dictionary entries. Each entry is to document a process identified in your Diagram 0 DFD. The marking criteria for each Data Dictionary entry are broken down into the following categories:
- Use of correct headings and appropriate content for each Data Dictionary entry - 2 marks
Headings:
- Process name or label
- Description
- Process number
- Process Description:
- Input Data Flows
- Output Data Flows
- Notes
The appropriate content must appear for each heading and the content must match with the DFDs. That is, there must be a logical fit between the Data Dictionary entry and your DFDs and your answers in other sections of this assignment. You will lose 0.25 marks for each case where there is a mismatch between your Data Dictionary entry and the DFDs and/or your answers in the other sections of this assignment EXCEPT for the process description which will be marked separately as stated below. You will lose 0.25 marks for every case of inappropriate content or use of an incorrect heading EXCEPT for the process description which will be marked separately as stated below.
- Content of process description - 3 marks
The process description should be a correct and concise representation of the process in english . The process descriptions should match the case study and fit logically with your DFDs. You will lose 0.25 marks every time your process descriptions do not correctly represent the actual process.
